Power BI Essentials for Education Training Course

Course Overview

Power BI Essentials for Education Training Course is designed to equip education professionals, school administrators, university managers, monitoring and evaluation specialists, education planners, researchers, policymakers, project managers, ICT officers, and development practitioners with practical knowledge and technical skills in using Microsoft Power BI to transform education data into meaningful insights for evidence-based decision-making. As ministries of education, universities, colleges, schools, NGOs, donor agencies, and international organizations increasingly embrace Education Management Information Systems (EMIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), Results-Based Management (RBM), Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), educational performance management, institutional quality assurance, learning analytics, education research, digital transformation, and business intelligence, Power BI has become one of the most powerful tools for analyzing, visualizing, and communicating educational performance. This course provides participants with practical skills to build dynamic dashboards and interactive reports that improve institutional performance and support strategic education management.

The course introduces participants to essential concepts of business intelligence, education analytics, data visualization, dashboard development, Power Query, data modeling, Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), interactive reporting, education performance indicators, KPI development, predictive analytics, data storytelling, cloud collaboration, automated reporting, education data governance, and performance monitoring. Participants will learn how to connect Power BI with Education Management Information Systems (EMIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), Microsoft Excel, SQL databases, SharePoint, Microsoft Forms, SurveyCTO, KoboToolbox, Open Data Kit (ODK), SPSS, STATA, R, Python, GIS, and cloud-based data sources to create integrated education reporting solutions for student performance, teacher effectiveness, institutional planning, infrastructure monitoring, financial management, research, and donor-funded education programs.

Participants will further explore advanced topics including educational data transformation, artificial intelligence visualizations, predictive analytics, geospatial analysis, row-level security, cloud publishing, real-time dashboards, mobile reporting, automated refresh schedules, data governance, organizational learning, accreditation reporting, and executive decision support systems. Practical exercises demonstrate how Power BI improves data accuracy, enhances institutional transparency, strengthens education monitoring and evaluation systems, supports donor reporting, facilitates accreditation, and promotes evidence-based educational planning through interactive dashboards and performance scorecards.

Through instructor-led workshops, live demonstrations, practical laboratories, collaborative group projects, dashboard development exercises, and comprehensive education case studies, participants will gain hands-on experience in designing, developing, publishing, and maintaining Power BI solutions for education. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will possess the competencies required to implement education business intelligence solutions, strengthen institutional reporting systems, improve education data analysis, enhance strategic planning, support Results-Based Management, and contribute to improved educational performance across ministries of education, universities, colleges, schools, NGOs, research institutions, and international development organizations.
