Course Overview

The Climate-Smart Agriculture for Humanitarian Training Course is a comprehensive professional development program designed to strengthen the capacity of government institutions, humanitarian organizations, United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), development partners, agricultural extension services, disaster management authorities, community-based organizations, research institutions, and private sector stakeholders in designing, implementing, and managing climate-smart agricultural interventions in humanitarian and fragile settings. The course equips participants with advanced knowledge and practical skills in climate-smart agriculture (CSA), sustainable agriculture, food security, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, resilience building, natural resource management, agroecology, sustainable livelihoods, nutrition-sensitive agriculture, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, digital agriculture, climate information services, and evidence-based humanitarian programming. Participants develop practical competencies to improve agricultural productivity, strengthen resilience, enhance food systems, reduce climate risks, and promote sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable communities affected by disasters, conflicts, and climate change.

Climate change, prolonged droughts, floods, land degradation, biodiversity loss, conflicts, and economic shocks continue to threaten agricultural production and food security across the globe. Humanitarian organizations increasingly require innovative climate-smart agricultural solutions that improve productivity, strengthen adaptation, reduce greenhouse gas emissions where feasible, protect ecosystems, and support resilient livelihoods. This course introduces internationally recognized frameworks and standards including the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Climate-Smart Agriculture Framework, Sphere Humanitarian Standards, Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), Results-Based Management (RBM), Farmer Field School (FFS) approaches, climate risk assessments, resilience measurement frameworks, and humanitarian-development-peace nexus strategies. Participants learn practical approaches for integrating climate-smart agriculture into humanitarian response, recovery, and long-term development programs while strengthening resilience, environmental sustainability, and community ownership.

Throughout the course, participants gain practical experience in climate risk assessments, sustainable crop production, conservation agriculture, climate-resilient livestock management, agroforestry, water harvesting, irrigation management, soil fertility improvement, climate information services, agricultural value chain development, digital agriculture, GIS mapping, remote sensing, monitoring systems, donor reporting, and impact evaluation. Practical field simulations, group projects, case studies, participatory learning exercises, and real-world humanitarian examples strengthen participants' analytical, technical, leadership, coordination, innovation, communication, and problem-solving skills while promoting transparency, accountability, organizational learning, digital transformation, gender equality, youth empowerment, environmental stewardship, and sustainable agricultural development.

6.     Flexible Duration: Course durations are adaptable, and content can be adjusted to fit the required number of days.

7.     Onsite Training Inclusions: The course fee for onsite training covers facilitation, training materials, two coffee breaks, a buffet lunch, and a Certificate of Successful Completion. Participants are responsible for their travel expenses, airport transfers, visa applications, dinners, health/accident insurance, and personal expenses.

8.     Additional Services: Accommodation, pickup services, flight booking, and visa processing arrangements are available upon request at discounted rates.
