Humanitarian Case Management Training Course

Course Overview

The Humanitarian Case Management Training Course is designed to equip humanitarian professionals, protection officers, social workers, healthcare providers, government agencies, emergency responders, and development practitioners with the knowledge, practical skills, and strategic competencies required to effectively manage individual and family cases in humanitarian settings. Humanitarian emergencies resulting from conflict, displacement, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, climate change, and complex crises create protection risks that require coordinated, survivor-centered, ethical, and accountable case management services. This course provides comprehensive training in Humanitarian Case Management, protection case management, child protection case management, gender-based violence (GBV) case management, psychosocial support, protection mainstreaming, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), referral pathways, humanitarian coordination, safeguarding, Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), case documentation, digital case management, and humanitarian information management to strengthen quality humanitarian service delivery and improve protection outcomes.

Participants will develop practical competencies in case identification, intake and registration, needs assessment, vulnerability analysis, case planning, service coordination, referral systems, case conferencing, follow-up, case closure, documentation, confidentiality, ethical information management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital case management systems, mobile data collection, Management Information Systems (MIS), monitoring and evaluation, quality assurance, safeguarding, and evidence-based humanitarian programming. Through practical exercises, simulation scenarios, role plays, and real-world case studies, participants will strengthen their ability to provide safe, confidential, survivor-centered, and rights-based case management services while promoting dignity, resilience, recovery, and accountability.

The course also explores international humanitarian and protection frameworks, including the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Case Management Guidelines, Sphere Humanitarian Standards, Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPMS), international human rights law, international humanitarian law, safeguarding policies, disability inclusion, gender-responsive programming, community engagement, localization, organizational governance, donor compliance, monitoring and evaluation, institutional strengthening, and ethical leadership. Participants will strengthen their understanding of integrated and multi-sectoral case management systems that ensure timely referrals, coordinated service delivery, data protection, and quality humanitarian programming.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to conduct comprehensive case assessments, develop individualized case plans, establish referral pathways, strengthen safeguarding systems, manage digital case management information, improve monitoring and evaluation systems, enhance humanitarian coordination, promote Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), ensure confidentiality and ethical practice, and develop sustainable Humanitarian Case Management systems that improve protection, recovery, resilience, and humanitarian outcomes.
