Evaluation Capacity Building Training Course

Course Overview

The Evaluation Capacity Building Training Course is a comprehensive professional development program designed to strengthen individual, organizational, and institutional capacities in monitoring, evaluation, learning, and evidence-based decision-making. In an increasingly results-oriented development environment, governments, donor agencies, non-governmental organizations, humanitarian institutions, and development partners require competent professionals and effective systems that can generate, analyze, and utilize evaluation evidence to improve program performance and development outcomes. Evaluation capacity building provides the knowledge, skills, tools, and organizational systems necessary to conduct high-quality evaluations and promote a culture of learning and accountability.

Evaluation capacity building has become a strategic priority in development programming, results-based management, performance measurement, organizational learning, and accountability systems. Strong evaluation capacities enable organizations to design robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks, measure outcomes and impacts effectively, generate credible evidence, and use evaluation findings to improve policies, programs, and projects. Organizations with effective evaluation systems are better positioned to demonstrate results, enhance transparency, improve resource allocation, and strengthen donor confidence and stakeholder engagement.

This highly practical and participatory training combines expert presentations, practical exercises, web-based tutorials, case studies, simulations, and collaborative group work to provide participants with competencies in evaluation principles, evaluation planning, capacity assessment, institutional strengthening, performance measurement systems, knowledge management, and utilization of evaluation findings. Participants will gain practical skills for developing sustainable evaluation systems and creating organizational environments that support continuous learning, adaptive management, and evidence-informed decision-making.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will possess practical knowledge and technical competencies to design and implement evaluation capacity development initiatives, strengthen organizational evaluation systems, improve evaluation quality, and institutionalize monitoring and evaluation practices. The course equips professionals with the capabilities required to promote learning, accountability, and continuous performance improvement across development organizations and programs.
