Gender and Climate Change Monitoring and Evaluation Training Course

Course Introduction

Gender and Climate Change Monitoring and Evaluation is a specialized professional training course designed to equip monitoring and evaluation specialists, climate change practitioners, gender experts, project managers, policymakers, development professionals, environmental officers, and sustainability practitioners with the knowledge and practical skills required to design, implement, and manage effective monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems for gender-responsive climate change programs. As climate adaptation, climate mitigation, resilience-building, and sustainable development initiatives continue to expand globally, organizations increasingly require robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks that measure both climate outcomes and gender equality impacts. This course provides practical tools and methodologies for assessing the effectiveness, efficiency, relevance, sustainability, and impact of climate interventions through a gender-sensitive lens.

The course explores the intersection of climate change, gender equality, environmental sustainability, resilience building, social inclusion, climate finance, and results-based management. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of monitoring and evaluation concepts, climate resilience indicators, gender-sensitive performance measurement systems, theory of change development, logical frameworks, impact assessment methodologies, and evidence-based decision-making approaches. The training aligns with international frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Paris Agreement, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and gender-responsive climate action strategies.

Participants will learn practical techniques for designing gender-sensitive indicators, collecting and analyzing sex-disaggregated data, conducting climate resilience evaluations, developing performance measurement frameworks, applying qualitative and quantitative research methods, and communicating evaluation findings to stakeholders. The course emphasizes adaptive management, learning systems, accountability mechanisms, climate risk monitoring, environmental impact assessment, and policy evaluation. Through practical exercises and case studies, participants will gain hands-on experience in developing monitoring and evaluation systems that support effective climate governance and inclusive development outcomes.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to establish comprehensive monitoring and evaluation systems that effectively track climate adaptation, mitigation, resilience, and gender equality outcomes while supporting organizational learning and strategic decision-making. The course combines expert facilitation, practical workshops, group discussions, field-based exercises, data analysis sessions, and real-world case studies to ensure participants acquire actionable competencies applicable across government institutions, NGOs, donor-funded programs, international organizations, research institutions, and private sector sustainability initiatives.
