GIS FOR PROPERTY AND URBAN GOVERNANCE TRAINING COURSE

Introduction

GIS for Property and Urban Governance is a specialized and highly practical field that integrates Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial data analysis, land administration, urban governance, property management, and digital planning technologies to improve decision-making, service delivery, infrastructure management, and sustainable urban development. As cities continue to expand and property markets become increasingly complex, governments, real estate organizations, urban planners, and development agencies require accurate geospatial information to manage land resources, support urban governance, improve property taxation systems, enhance service delivery, and strengthen planning processes. This comprehensive training course equips participants with practical knowledge and advanced skills in GIS applications for property management, land administration, urban planning, infrastructure development, and governance systems.

The course explores the use of GIS technologies in mapping, spatial analysis, property information management, urban planning, land use management, cadastral systems, infrastructure planning, and smart city governance. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how geospatial technologies support evidence-based policy formulation, urban management, property valuation, land registration, environmental monitoring, and public service optimization. Emphasis is placed on integrating GIS with governance frameworks to improve transparency, accountability, efficiency, and sustainable urban development outcomes.

Participants will learn how to collect, manage, analyze, visualize, and interpret geospatial data to support property development, urban planning, land administration, infrastructure management, disaster risk reduction, and urban governance initiatives. The training also examines emerging technologies such as remote sensing, drone mapping, spatial databases, web GIS platforms, location intelligence systems, digital twins, smart city technologies, and artificial intelligence applications in geospatial analysis. Through practical exercises and real-world examples, participants will develop competencies required to leverage GIS for effective governance and property management.

Through hands-on GIS projects, mapping exercises, spatial analysis workshops, urban planning simulations, policy reviews, and case study discussions, participants will develop practical skills in geospatial data management, urban governance analysis, property information systems, and strategic planning. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to implement GIS-based solutions that improve property management, urban governance, land administration, infrastructure planning, and sustainable city development.
