National Climate Adaptation and Resilience Planning is a comprehensive professional training program designed to strengthen the capacity of governments, ministries, climate change authorities, environmental agencies, disaster risk management institutions, local governments, development partners, planners, engineers, policymakers, and sustainability professionals in developing and implementing effective climate adaptation strategies and resilience frameworks. The course integrates climate adaptation planning, climate resilience, climate risk assessment, disaster risk reduction (DRR), environmental governance, climate change policy, National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), resilience planning, climate finance, ecosystem-based adaptation, climate-smart infrastructure, sustainable development, greenhouse gas mitigation, climate governance, resilience financing, climate vulnerability assessment, adaptation monitoring and evaluation, resilience indicators, nature-based solutions, urban resilience, community resilience, sustainable resource management, climate data analytics, and strategic climate planning to support national resilience, sustainable development, and long-term economic stability. Climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of floods, droughts, storms, heatwaves, biodiversity loss, food insecurity, water scarcity, infrastructure damage, and economic disruptions across the world. Governments must establish integrated climate adaptation and resilience planning systems that strengthen institutional preparedness, safeguard vulnerable populations, protect critical infrastructure, and promote sustainable economic growth. Effective climate governance requires coordinated policies, scientific risk assessments, climate financing mechanisms, stakeholder engagement, disaster preparedness, resilient infrastructure, and continuous monitoring of adaptation interventions. This course equips participants with internationally recognized tools, frameworks, and best practices aligned with the Paris Agreement, Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to strengthen national resilience planning.
