Course Overview

The Forecast-Based Humanitarian Programming Training Course is designed to equip humanitarian professionals, disaster risk management practitioners, government agencies, United Nations organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), emergency response coordinators, climate adaptation specialists, humanitarian logisticians, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) specialists, remote sensing analysts, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) professionals, public health experts, food security specialists, environmental officers, development practitioners, policy makers, emergency operations managers, researchers, and community resilience practitioners with advanced knowledge and practical skills in designing, implementing, and managing forecast-based humanitarian programmes. As climate change, extreme weather events, environmental degradation, disease outbreaks, droughts, floods, tropical cyclones, food insecurity, displacement, and complex humanitarian emergencies continue to increase globally, humanitarian organizations must shift from reactive emergency response toward proactive, evidence-based programming driven by climate forecasts and predictive risk information. This course provides comprehensive knowledge of forecast-based action, anticipatory humanitarian programming, disaster risk reduction, climate intelligence, early warning systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, predictive analytics, humanitarian information management, forecast-based financing, and integrated humanitarian planning aligned with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Paris Agreement, the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, and international humanitarian standards.

Participants will develop practical competencies in climate forecasting, hazard assessment, vulnerability analysis, exposure assessment, trigger development, anticipatory financing, contingency planning, humanitarian logistics preparedness, emergency coordination, climate-informed resource allocation, operational readiness, humanitarian information systems, digital monitoring platforms, and evidence-based decision-making. The training emphasizes integrating advanced technologies including Artificial Intelligence, predictive analytics, satellite imagery, Geographic Information Systems, remote sensing, cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT), drones, digital humanitarian platforms, and real-time operational dashboards into forecast-based humanitarian programming. Through practical forecasting laboratories, GIS exercises, humanitarian simulations, collaborative workshops, contingency planning exercises, and international case studies, participants will strengthen their capacity to transform forecast information into timely humanitarian interventions that reduce disaster impacts, protect vulnerable populations, and improve humanitarian effectiveness.

  5. Training Locations: Training sessions are conducted at Foscore Development Center (FDC-K) centers. We also offer options for in-house and online training, customized to the client's schedule.
  6. Flexible Duration: Course durations are adaptable, and content can be adjusted to fit the required number of days.
  7. Onsite Training Inclusions: The course fee for onsite training covers facilitation, training materials, two coffee breaks, a buffet lunch, and a Certificate of Successful Completion. Participants are responsible for their travel expenses, airport transfers, visa applications, dinners, health/accident insurance, and personal expenses.
  8. Additional Services: Accommodation, pickup services, freight booking, and visa processing arrangements are available upon request at discounted rates.
