Course Overview

The Climate-Smart Humanitarian Programming Training Course is designed to equip humanitarian professionals, government officials, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), United Nations agencies, climate change practitioners, disaster risk reduction specialists, development partners, emergency response teams, policy makers, and community leaders with the knowledge and practical skills required to design, implement, monitor, and evaluate climate-smart humanitarian programmes that effectively address the growing impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations. Climate-induced disasters, including floods, droughts, heatwaves, cyclones, wildfires, sea-level rise, and food insecurity, are increasing the frequency and complexity of humanitarian emergencies. This course provides comprehensive knowledge of climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, resilience building, sustainable humanitarian programming, climate risk analysis, environmental management, anticipatory action, and humanitarian innovation while aligning with international humanitarian standards, the Paris Agreement, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus.
