Course Overview

The Urban Resilience Training Course is designed to equip urban planners, humanitarian professionals, local government officials, disaster risk management practitioners, infrastructure engineers, development organizations, NGOs, UN agencies, environmental specialists, emergency managers, and policymakers with the knowledge and practical skills required to build resilient, inclusive, sustainable, and climate-smart cities. Rapid urbanization, population growth, informal settlements, climate change, natural hazards, public health emergencies, infrastructure failures, environmental degradation, and socio-economic inequalities continue to increase the vulnerability of urban populations. This comprehensive course provides practical competencies in urban resilience planning, disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate adaptation, resilient infrastructure, urban governance, sustainable urban development, emergency preparedness, resilience financing, smart city technologies, community resilience, and urban recovery planning.

Participants will gain hands-on experience in conducting urban vulnerability assessments, hazard mapping, resilience measurement, risk analysis, infrastructure resilience planning, climate adaptation planning, emergency response coordination, urban service continuity, resilient housing strategies, critical infrastructure protection, monitoring and evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and evidence-based urban policy development.
