LAND ECONOMICS AND URBAN PLANNING TRAINING COURSE

Introduction

Land Economics and Urban Planning is a multidisciplinary field that focuses on the efficient allocation, utilization, management, valuation, and development of land resources to support sustainable urban growth, economic development, environmental conservation, and social well-being. As rapid urbanization, population growth, infrastructure expansion, housing demand, and environmental challenges continue to shape cities and regions worldwide, effective land economics and urban planning have become essential for creating resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities. This comprehensive training course equips participants with practical knowledge and advanced skills in land economics, urban development, spatial planning, land use management, infrastructure planning, housing policy, and sustainable urban governance.

The course explores the economic principles governing land markets, property values, urban growth patterns, land administration systems, zoning regulations, development controls, and public policy interventions. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of how land resources influence economic productivity, investment opportunities, housing development, transportation systems, environmental sustainability, and urban competitiveness. Emphasis is placed on integrating economic analysis with planning strategies to support informed decision-making and effective urban management.

Participants will learn how to conduct land market analysis, develop urban plans, evaluate land development projects, formulate land use policies, manage urban growth, and address emerging challenges such as informal settlements, climate change, infrastructure deficits, environmental degradation, and land governance issues. The course also examines smart city concepts, geographic information systems (GIS), sustainable development frameworks, transit-oriented development, and innovative approaches to urban planning and land management.

Through practical exercises, spatial analysis projects, policy simulations, urban planning workshops, land valuation studies, and real-world case studies, participants will develop competencies in planning, policy formulation, land economics analysis, development control, and urban management. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to contribute effectively to sustainable land management, urban development planning, economic growth, and improved quality of life in rapidly changing urban environments.
